8/2/2017 - This is the second week of a six week block course at the Technology Centre for us. Each student has chosen a project to complete in one of the four technology areas - Food, Fabric, Woodshop, Design. Some students are doing individual projects and others have chosen to do a project that will benefit the school. Jayden and Liam are making a lychgate, Alex and Louis are making a directional sign for the visitors to find their way around the school and Ranger is making some very large PRIDE banners for the school hall. Alex designing the direction sign. 8/4/17 Kapa Haka Fun North Loburn School is preparing to head off to the Kapa Haka festival, at the Horncastle Arena. Headbands and costumes have been made thanks to our teachers and local families. Maaka, Norm and Michelle have been working hard to get us ready - teaching us the waiata, poi and haka that we are performing. We are going to have a dress rehearsal for the rest of the school on Monday and then perform for Ashley School before the Festival Performance the following week. We will have lots of fun - see you there!!! 16/8/17 Yesterday Millie and Lucy G went to Casebrook Intermediate to compete in the Root To Tip Challenge. They had to cook two savoury dishes over a two hour period using all the parts of their ingredients so as to have as little waste as possible. Course 1 - the girls made kumara raviolli with spinach pesto and vege crisps. Course 2 - was beetroot risotto with feta and garlic flatbread. Millie and Lucy came 2nd in the competition, missing out on the top spot by 1/2 a point! We are proud of their efforts. 8/24/17 Today we held our class speech competition. The winners go through to the School competition next Thursday. Year 7 winners were: Liam Murphy, Jack Simpson, Amelia Green, Regi Upston. Year 8 winners were: Emily Banks, Ranger Leary, Isabella Cross, and Jolie Rakena. 9/5/17 The North Loburn School production is near and all the students of the school are practising for it. Each student has either been given lines or asked to help make props and costumes. The theme for this years production is called "YET" The teachers of North Loburn School each decided a topic for their class act. Totara have been given the game "Chess". Each class' act is based from a board game. That is why Totara are performing their act to do with "Chess". We are all very excited to perform it for our community! 22.9.17 Lights, Camera, Action. The North Loburn School pupils have been performing the production all week. It has been a very busy week with late nights. 4 shows were performed 1 matinee and 3 night performances. The students were allowed to sleep in till 11:00am the next morning after a Show. I'm sure everyone is very relieved that the production is finally over. The end result was fantastic! 29.9.17 Phew finished I just finished my science badge. Over the last 3 terms I have been working on my science badge I got to choose which science badge todo out of many and I chose astronomy. 26.10.17 North Loburn School Athletics On Tuesday 24 of October Year 4 to 8 students from North Loburn School went to Loburn Domain for athletics. 1/12/17 On Friday Totara went on a class trip to the movies to see the movie Wonder. Mrs P had been reading the book to the students for most of the year so were very excited to see the movie and if the characters looked how they imagined them. When they got to the movie theatre they all had the choice of an ice cream or popcorn! The students all thought it was a very good movie and lots of tears were shed. |
