Kia Ora Koutou, welcome to Kahikatea.

We have a wonderful bunch of 21 Year 4/5 students in Kahikatea and we are lucky enough to work collaboratively with the Yr 5/6 Kauri class for 4 days a week.  I (Mrs Hassall) am the Kahikatea home room teacher, while Mrs Hughes is the Kauri home room teacher.

This is the first year we have taught together collaboratively and we are loving it!  The children are fantastic - we couldn't be luckier!  We believe in fostering a nurturing environment where every child feels valued for who they are, and all children are able to experience success in some form.  Taking risks and making mistakes is valued and helps us develop into well rounded citizens.

Our classroom programme includes the core subjects during the morning with topic/health and PE/art/music taking place in the afternoon.  Our children have an opportunity to choose to do something they love when they complete 'Can Do's' during the week. We are lucky enough to have a Kapahaka session once a week and we are looking forward to participating in the Festival again later this year.

If you would like to find out more please come and visit us.
