We have made a great start to the year. Our space now includes 43 Year 4 to 6 students and two teachers. This has been a new experience for many North Loburn students as previously most had worked in single cell classrooms.  All have faced the challenge head on and are adapting well to the new environment.

Term 1 has also been actioned packed with many extra curricula activities. Events such as climbing Mt Grey as part of our Summit Challenge, swimming sports, flower show and camp have all  helped us on our journey to becoming well rounded  people.

Camp has been a first term highlight for many of us. Below is a summary of out three days.

We went on camp to Staveley and had an awesome time even though the weather wasn't kind to us. The first day began with a visit to the Methven Heritage centre. The interactive displays and variation of activities kept the pupils absorbed for well over an hour. After leaving there we travelled to Staveley. Because of impending rain we got straight into the first rotation of activities before unpacking. This was fortunate as we only just managed to complete this before the rain set in for the day.  The activities were: archery and air rifles, compass/ rogaining, steam study, outdoor cookery and team building. Indoor activities were used for the rest of the day because of the rain.

Day two started with more rain. Fortunately it was light enough for us to be able to go outside and we managed to complete three of the rotations. The day’s activities were capped off with a great singing session with Mr Ward  and spotlight in the dark.

On the third day many children rose early again and spent time in the hall playing a variety of games. The organised part of the day started with the final rotation completed in damp conditions. Children cleaned their bunkrooms and packed their bags. Parents did the extra duties. Just before leaving camp we came together for a thank you time.

All in all a very full on programme that at times  was made challenging by the weather. Parents and most children took this in their stride and made the most of this opportunity. Huge thank you to everyone who helped in one way or another.
