Kowhai is the first class at North Loburn School. We are proud of our name- which is both the colour yellow and a native plant. Kowhai is taught by Mrs Green. She loves doing Maths, Reading and helping the children to create interesting things on the iPads.

In Kowhai we set up the foundations for reading and writing. We focus on the letters and the sounds that they make.  We write stories and enjoy reading lots of exciting books!
Some other special things we do in Kowhai are
Discovery Time- On Friday we have a time to explore and learn in a hands-on programme. Children are developing communication skills, investigating their interests and working together.
Sports Coaches- The coaches come every second week to play fun games and activities with us.
Library Time- Each week we visit our school library to select some books to take home for the week.
iPads- We use the iPads for reading stories, creating illustrations and making movies.

Where are the photos of children?
In Kowhai we use Seesaw to communicate with parents and families. This means that we are able to share photos and learning achievements directly with parents involved. Each children has a personal learning journal with Seesaw. It can also be shared with others such as Grandparents if the family wishes.  Seesaw is a fabulous way to stay up to date with what is happening in Kowhai and see the amazing things we get up to!
