A very big congratulations must go to the staff and students at North Loburn for the successful review of our enviro school status. This was a significant event for our school as a great deal of work has been going into what we are doing here at school.
Our visitors for the day, Toni and Andrea certainly enabled our students to reflect in detail. They questioned our practices and our thinking, as well as challenging us to think of next steps. We can now look forward to the next 3 years as we continue on our enviro schools journey as a Green / Gold school. The annual Ashley Forest North Loburn School Fun Run was held on the weekend. Whilst the numbers were down on last year we still had a great day out. The weather threatened to be a challenge at first with persistent drizzle, however once out on the course it proved to be more pleasant than first thought.
An event such as this does not happen with out a great deal of organisation from many people. I would like to thank the work that was done by Anne Murphy and the many volunteers who helped out leading up to the event and on the day. It was run efficiently which is a direct result of the many hours of work that went into getting it ready. To all of those people who turned up and supported the event - we say thank you. It looks like our Home and School group will be able to donate around $5000 to the school which is certainly appreciated. We look forward to bring it to you again next year. Tickets for the 2017 production of YET have gone on sale this week (week 7). Please note that as the seating is limited there is a 4 tickets per family, per show limit. If extra tickets are required then names will be placed on a waiting list. The tickets are priced at $5 for the evening performances and a gold coin donation for the matinee.
This will be a wonderful experience with all of the classes working hard on their items. The show will take you on a journey that teachers you about the power of the word YET. Join the Curtain family as they lead us through a series of fun scenes, and song and dance. We look forward to seeing you on the night. After the Kapa Haka performance on Friday it seems only natural that we would take a moment to reflect on the effort of all involved. I was so proud of what I saw. The professional performance from our group was a direct result of the many hours of work that had been put into the programme by all involved.
The costumes were simply amazing. A special thanks to Marie Simpson and her team of sewers and helpers for tge work they did. To all of the teachers who were either directly or indirectly involved. Thanks also for your assistance. These activities do not come easy. I am sure everyone os extremely grateful for the opportunity and proud of the end product. The link below will take you to the Youtube clip of the performance. North Loburn Kapa Haka - Youtube After a long period of development of the website and training for the staff, it is great to now have the website that we can use for sharing the great things going on in our school. Please take a moment to explore the different pages that we have. We are still working on completing all the pages and will continue to review the content.
We are certainly excited about what we have now as our page. It is a neat way to start the third term. The calendar will be regularly updated. The class pages may differ from class to class as some teachers are using See Saw as a method of communication. This term is certainly going to be an exciting one. We look forward to sharing these great events with you. Kind regards Darryn Ward It is great to be able to finally reveal our new website. I certainly appreciate the work that has been done on this by Howard Pettigrew. I am sure you will agree that what we have now is faster and easier to navigate.
We are all looking forward to bringing the latest information to you and sharing / celebrating our children's learning with you. We are always interested in your feedback on the website so please do not hesitate to contact the school if you feel there is something we can do better. Many thanks Darryn Ward (Principal) |
