In 2010 we launched our Summit Challenge for Year 4-8. Students. So what is the Summit Challenge exactly?
- An innovative approach to how we view homework.
- Aims at removing the “home stress” associated with “home work”
- Reinforces and values life skills.
- Recognises learning experiences are not all academically based.
- Accepts that some parents indicate to us they want more homework for their children.
- Aims to move children from an “I want” attitude to a more giving approach to others.
- Is for students from Year 4 - 8
- Recognises those children that do a lot outside of school that is not acknowledged as homework/learning.
Students must complete 10 challenges each year. They may do more than 10 challenges if they wish. They need to do at least one challenge from each section. With the help of parents and teachers they may write their own challenge.
Their own challenge must be approved by your teacher. To keep on track, students must complete at least 3 challenges by the end of term 1, and 6 by the end of Term 2. Challenge winners will receive their award at the Community Prize giving at the end of the year.
